Brier's Island off the coast of Nova Scotia is a bird sanctuary as well as a well known whale-watching location. At the end of the island I was so taken by the way trees and shrubbery leaned away from the prevailing winds. They were not very big, but so hardy and tenacious; even on a still day I felt I could hear the wind soughing through the limbs. |
